Portable Cabins & E-Houses in Mangaluru and Udupi

Mangaluru is Karnataka's port city, with a refinery, an SEZ and heavy industry on the coast. We build site offices, E-Houses, operator and security cabins and labour camps for it, detailed for salt air and one of India's heaviest monsoons.

Mangaluru & Udupi

Mangaluru's industry grew around New Mangalore Port, one of India's major ports. The Mangalore SEZ at Bajpe and Permude holds petrochemical and processing plants, the Baikampady industrial area has engineering, electrical and pharmaceutical units, and refinery and fertiliser plants sit close to the port. Underground strategic crude reserves have been built at Mangaluru and at Padur in Udupi district, and the coast is dotted with fish processing, cashew and tile works.

Plant shutdowns, port expansions and pipeline and storage projects all bring contractors who need site offices, labour accommodation, toilet blocks and security cabins at short notice. Process plants add operator cabins, control rooms and E-Houses. Further up the coast, Udupi and Manipal support education, healthcare and a growing hospitality trade.

From Umbergaon, the Mangaluru coast is reached by road down the western coastal highway through the Konkan, Goa and Karwar, or from the Pune–Bengaluru highway across the Western Ghats. Every structure here should be specified for salt air, and lifts planned around a monsoon that routinely brings very heavy rain from June to September.

Applications

Built for the climate

Specified for Mangaluru.

Hot, humid coastal climate with salt air and a very heavy south-west monsoon from June to September.

  1. 01Specify galvanised frames, PPGI skins and stainless fixings to resist salt air near the port and shore.
  2. 02Pitch roofs well, seal every joint and penetration, and size gutters for very intense monsoon rain.
  3. 03Raise plinths and plan drainage on low coastal plots and laterite sites that hold water.
  4. 04Plan lifts and installation outside the peak monsoon weeks, and allow for high humidity with ventilation or AC.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do you deliver cabins from Umbergaon to Mangaluru?

By road, either down the western coastal highway through Goa and Karwar or across the Western Ghats from the Pune–Bengaluru highway, depending on the module size. Ghat sections may need route planning for larger modules, which we work out with you.

Can you supply labour camps and site offices for a plant shutdown?

Yes. Site offices, labour accommodation, toilet blocks, canteens and security cabins can be supplied in numbers. Share the headcount, layout and dates and we will plan fabrication and delivery with you.

How do you protect cabins from Mangaluru's salt air?

We can specify galvanised frames, PPGI or coated skins and stainless fixings, and detail roofs and joints for the monsoon. Our guide to designing for coastal and monsoon climates covers the options.

What approvals apply to temporary structures in the port or SEZ?

Sites inside the port or SEZ are governed by their own authority's rules and your client's permit system. Your safety and compliance team is the right first check. We provide drawings and specifications to support approvals.
