Light Gauge Steel Structure (LGS)

Engineered with lightweight, high-strength steel framing, these structures offer a rapid construction solution.
Light Gauge Steel Structure (LGS)

Overview

Cold-formed galvanised steel sections, precision-cut and assembled into a structural skeleton. LGS delivers the strength of steel with the speed of prefabrication — the backbone for villas, multi-storey units and commercial buildings.

Why it works

Built around how you’ll use it.

  • 01

    Rapid construction

Precision-cut members assemble quickly, compressing timelines versus conventional construction.

  • 02

    High strength-to-weight

Galvanised high-tensile steel reduces foundation loads while remaining rigid.

  • 03

    Corrosion protected

Zinc-coated sections resist rust for a long, low-maintenance service life.

  • 04

    Design freedom

Supports multi-storey layouts, cantilevers and a wide range of façade finishes.

Configurations

Sized to the brief.

  • Villas and farmhouses

Single or two-storey homes with LGS framing and infill panels, finished inside and out to the standard of a conventional house, with a lighter foundation.

  • Resort cottages and hospitality units

Repeatable cottages, suites and amenity blocks that can be built in phases, with façades in cladding, glazing or plaster.

  • Sales galleries and commercial buildings

Open-plan pavilions and multi-storey commercial space with large spans, cantilevers and glazed fronts.

  • Rooftop extensions

Additional floors on existing buildings, where a light frame reduces the load on the structure below. Subject to a structural check of the existing building.

  • Infill choices

Cement board, Aerocon or PUF panels, selected for fire, acoustic and thermal performance and the finish you want.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How long does an LGS building last?

LGS members are galvanised against corrosion and, when detailed to keep water out and finished properly, give a long, low-maintenance service life comparable to conventional construction. Coastal sites need extra attention to detailing and finishes.

Can LGS be used for a two- or three-storey building?

Yes. LGS supports multi-storey layouts. The number of storeys, spans and loads are engineered per project and confirmed in the structural drawings.

Does an LGS villa feel like a conventional house?

With the right infill and finishes, yes. Walls can be plastered, painted, tiled or clad, and the building can be designed with the same room sizes, glazing and detailing as a brick house.

Is LGS faster than conventional construction?

Generally, yes. Members are cut to size in the factory and assembled on site with screws and bolts, with little wet work. The overall timeline depends on the size of the building and its finishes.

What foundation does an LGS structure need?

LGS is light, so foundations are usually smaller than for an equivalent RCC building. The design depends on soil conditions and storeys and is confirmed with the drawings.
