Security & guard cabins for gates, check-posts and perimeters

A security cabin is occupied around the clock. We build guard rooms and gate cabins with clear sightlines, insulation for comfort and a steel shell that stands up to years of use.

Overview

The security cabin is the first building a visitor sees at a factory, a housing society, a warehouse or a construction site. It has to give the guard a clear view of the gate and approach road, keep them comfortable through a twelve-hour shift in heat or rain, and be robust enough to stand outdoors for years.

We build guard cabins from insulated panels on a steel frame, and from container shells where extra toughness is wanted. Glazing is placed on the sides that matter — facing the gate, the road and the boom barrier — with a service window for passes and deliveries. Inside there is room for a desk, register shelf, CCTV monitor and a chair, with a fan or AC point, lighting and sockets.

Sizes run from single-person watchman cabins to larger gate houses with a visitor waiting area and attached toilet. Because the cabin sits on a base frame, it can be lifted into position in a few hours and moved if the gate is relocated.

Plan

A typical watchman room plan

Most good guard cabins share the same plan: the desk faces the road, glass on the sides the guard has to watch, the door on the barrier side, and power and data ready for the CCTV and barrier. Larger gate houses add a toilet at the back so the post is never left empty.

The guard room has a desk and register counter along the wall facing the road, with a service window for passes and deliveries. Windows face the approach, the gate and the exit. The door is on the barrier side, under a roof overhang that runs around the cabin. A compact toilet sits at the back corner. Power and data points serve the CCTV monitor, intercom and barrier controls, and a cable duct runs from the cabin to the boom barrier across the road.INSIDE PREMISESAPPROACH ROADBOUNDARY WALLGATENBOOM BARRIER12345678910

Indicative plan, not a drawing for construction. Size, glazing and whether a toilet is included depend on how the gate operates and how many guards are on duty.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What size security cabin do we need?

A single guard usually needs a compact cabin with room for a chair, desk and register. If you need a visitor area, a toilet or space for two guards, a larger cabin works better. We can suggest a size once we know how the gate operates.

What decides the cost of a portable security cabin?

Mainly size, the structure (panel cabin or converted container), how much glazing it has, whether it includes a toilet or AC, the interior finish, and freight to your site. Our cost guide explains each driver; share the gate layout and we will send a proposal.

What makes a good watchman room design?

Whether you call it a watchman room, gateman cabin or guard room: glazing on the sides that face the gate and approach road, a counter or desk under the window for the register, a roof overhang over the door and windows for rain and glare, enough wall space for a fan or AC, lighting inside and over the gate, and power points for CCTV and boom-barrier controls. Add a toilet if the guard cannot leave the post.

Should we choose a panel cabin or a container cabin?

Panel cabins are lighter and allow more glazing; container cabins are tougher and harder to break into. Many industrial gates use container cabins, while housing societies and offices often prefer panel cabins.

Can the security cabin have an attached toilet?

Yes. A compact toilet can be built into the cabin, with inlet and outlet points ready to connect to water and drainage.

What foundation does a guard cabin need?

A level base of plinth blocks or a small PCC bed, with a cable duct for power and data. The cabin is craned into place and levelled on the base.
