Bokaro Steel City was planned around its integrated steel plant, which continues to expand and modernise. JIADA's Balidih industrial area holds steel, fabrication, cement and engineering units supplying the plant, and thermal power stations at Chandrapura and Bokaro Thermal, with the Tenughat station further west, make the district a power hub as well.
Steel plants and power stations need structures that stand up to heat, dust and heavy use: operator cabins for cranes and mills, control rooms and E-Houses for new electrical capacity, and store rooms and rest shelters on the shop floor. Every shutdown and expansion brings contractors who need site offices, toilet blocks and labour accommodation.
