Prefab Structures & Portable Cabins for Lakshadweep
Lakshadweep
Lakshadweep is India's smallest union territory: a group of coral atolls and islands off the Kerala coast, of which only some are inhabited. Kavaratti is the capital, Agatti has the airstrip, and Minicoy lies far to the south. Building here serves island life and a carefully managed tourism sector — schools, health centres, government offices, power and water facilities, and a small number of resorts and tented stays. Every island is ecologically sensitive, so construction is tightly regulated and building materials must be shipped in.
Access is controlled. Visitors and workers need an entry permit from the Lakshadweep administration, and any project needs its own permissions before material or crews can land. Sea transport runs from the Kerala and Karnataka coast, with Kochi, Beypore and Mangaluru the usual mainland ports for passengers and cargo.
From our factory in Umbergaon, structures travel by road to a mainland port and are then shipped to the islands. We plan each island project on its own terms: the vessel, the landing arrangements, the lifting equipment available on the island and the weather window. That usually favours light gauge steel frames, PUF and Aerocon panel systems packed flat for assembly on site, rather than large finished modules.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Can you deliver prefab structures to Lakshadweep?
We can plan it. Structures travel by road from Umbergaon to a mainland port such as Kochi or Mangaluru, and are then shipped to the island. Each project is planned individually around the vessel, the landing arrangements and the weather window.
Which structures suit island projects best?
Light systems that pack flat and assemble without heavy equipment: light gauge steel frames with PUF or Aerocon panels, specified with galvanised steel and stainless fixings for salt air. Large finished modules are possible only where the vessel and island lifting capacity allow.
What permits are needed to build in Lakshadweep?
Entry to Lakshadweep requires a permit from the administration, and construction on the islands is closely regulated because of their ecology and coastal location. Your project's client or consultant should secure the permissions first. We provide drawings, specifications and packing details to support them.
When is the best time to ship to the islands?
Outside the south-west monsoon, when seas are calmer and landings safer. We fabricate in the factory ahead of the window so that material is ready to ship as soon as sailing and landing are confirmed.
